A few weeks after the debut of Quinn Sullivan’s album Getting There it landed on the Billboard Blues Chart as a hotshot debut at #14 (appropriately enough since that is how old he is). It quickly skyrocketed to number four and spent the next several weeks bouncing around the list alongside the likes of Buddy Guy, Gary Clark Jr, and Tedeschi Trucks Band. Now, proving once again that Quinn has the staying power of any of the great guitar legends, the album has re-entered the chart at Number 10. With a summer that included television appearances on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, plus a highly successful cross-country tour as the opening act for Buddy Guy, Quinn has added yet another accomplishment to 2013—a year that will still see him taking to the stage another dozen times before gearing up for a busy 2014. Sure there’s been mentions of Quinn Sullivan’s album Getting There in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and The Boston Herald, to name just a few, but fans have also taken to the Internet to share their responses to the album. We’ve pulled some of the fan comments from his Amazon page to share the buzz. “One of my favorite blues man took Quinn under his wing and I respect him even more for that. Quinn can play and will only get better. I love help supporting this young man. Buy it, he will be around for a long long time. You rock Quinn :-)” “So… can a 14 year old white boy from Massachusetts play the blues? That question almost sounds ludicrous, until you hear Quinn Sullivan. Like Roy Buchanan, he simply has been…born to play. You know the old story about Robert Johnson goin’ down to the crossroads? Well, Quinn went […]
After his HotShot Debut at number 14, guitar prodigy Quinn Sullivan has more than doubled his chart position in just two weeks. Now sitting at the number four position on the Billboard Blues Chart, Sullivan proves once again he can hold his own against the masters of the genre. With his mentor Buddy Guy two spots above (after debuting at number one) and Gary Clark Jr just one place away at number 3, Sullivan is certainly Getting There, as the title of his SuperStar Records debut attests. To cap off a summer of high profile television appearances, Sullivan and his band will play the closing set on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on August 26th. Consistent with Sullivan’s commitment to including his fans wherever possible he has asked them to tell him which song he should sing from his new album Getting There on his official website, quinnsullivanmusic.com, Facebook […]
Last week The CBS Morning Show aired a sit down interview with Buddy Guy and Quinn Sullivan during their tour stop at BB Kings nightclub in New York City. But now their radio channel has picked up the story and dug a little deeper into Quinn’s story. Besides looking back at his first time on stage with Buddy (captured in a video that has now had over three million views on YouTube), Quinn talks about his performance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show when he was six years old (it was also the reason for his first airplane ride) and what it meant to play at Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Festival at Madison Square Gardens.
